Oz The Great And Powerful

Sam Raimi gives us his imagining of the origins of the Wizard of Oz.  Again beginning in Kansas we see circus magician Oscar Diggs (James Franco) where the world is open to him.  Oscar must work out who’s good and who’s bad before the problems in the Land Of Oz become too much.  Through trickery and illusion he has to convince 3 witches (Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz & Michelle Williams) he is the great wizard this world has been waiting for.

Cloud Atlas

Cloud Atlas was deemed as an unfilmable book, but Tom Tykwer & The Wachowski brothers thought they could take on the challenge.  It is a film that explores how actions by individuals impact others throughout past, present and future.  In this story we are treated to action, mystery and romance with a plot that see’s one act of kindness fuel a revolution in the future.  We see the ensemble cast play many different roles in an ambitious project.  Although damned with same fate as Atonement, it was not as successful come award season.
