This time last year, Roman Reigns was shoved down our throats yet again, last eliminating Rusev to outlast 29 other men and book his place in the main event of WrestleMania 31. It was an unforgettable night in Philadelphia for all the wrong reasons, as even The Rock was booed out of the building as he raised the hand of his cousin Reigns.
It was also a sign of things to come for 2015 as, despite consistent and often excellent performances, the former Shield powerhouse struggled to convince the WWE Universe he deserved to be front and centre for much of WWE’s programming.
That’s exactly where he is again now, entering the Royal Rumble as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion and defending the title in the titular battle royal from the unenviable position of #1 entrant.
Either it will be yet another predictable first pay-per-view of the year or, supported by an intriguing undercard of championship bouts, a sign that 2016 is going to be something special.
Pre Show Match
It couldn’t matter less who wins this. Even if they are added to the Royal Rumble match, they’re not going to come close to winning. So who would be the most fun to see? The Dudley Boyz hitting a 3D or two and interacting with old foes like the Wyatts or the New Day would be enjoyable.
But there’s one man here who is guaranteed to get a bigger pop than anyone else: Damian Sandow. We even have a feud in mind, with the Intellectual Saviour of the Unwashed Masses forming his own group to combat the Social Outcasts. Eight mid-carders in one big feud could be great. So expect WWE to book Mark Henry and Jack Swagger to win and last about 90 seconds in the Rumble match between them. Oh well.
Predicted Winners- Mark Henry and Jack Swagger
